Overview
To assist in maintaining safe and enjoyable recreational and leisure facilities within parks, reserves, sports grounds, CBD’s and the urban landscape and to operate and maintain Council plant in a professional and safe manner.Â
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Undertake tasks as required by the Parks Ganger and/or Service Unit Supervisors within the skills, training, qualifications and experience of the role
- Responsible for the promotion of positive and courteous dealings with all staff, public and stakeholders
- Ensure that instructions and procedures are followed at work sites for the safety of the public, employees and contractors
- Assist in the maintenance parks, reserves and sports grounds for the safety and enjoyment of others
- Operate Vehicles including trucks as required
- Undertake effective use of and care and maintenance of resources, including but not limited to, plant and equipment, tools and materials in a safe and efficient mannerÂ
- Complete administration and paperwork as required relating to vehicles efficiently and effectively
- Carry out duties in accordance with relevant legislation and Plans of Management for the area’s maintained
- 6-8 weeks initially but potential for permanent for the right person
Experience:
- Good level of fitness to perform labouring tasks
- Ability to communicate with the public in a courteous manner
- Good written and oral English communicationÂ
- Previous experience in truck driving
- Previous experience in labouring tasks
- Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret manuals, and safe work method statements applicable to the work requirements
- Understanding of public reserve notice
- Sound knowledge of sites within local area and geography of Hornsby Shire
- Previous experience in parks maintenance
- Knowledge of turf, garden, tree, shrub and sports ground maintenance
Licences or Certificates:
- Current MR licenceÂ
- Occupational Health and Safety Induction Certificate for construction work
